Grand Rapids, August 20, 2018 – Why We Call This Place Home

We are thrilled to welcome all Quotarians to our home town in 2020! As you saw at Convention 2018, Michigan has so much to offer, and Grand Rapids in particular is sure to keep you energized.

I am very proud of our Grand Rapids club, which was founded in 1945, just about when World War II was ending. Our members have always been very generous with their time and talent and making a difference in our community. Most recently, we hosted a performance of Snow White at Grand Rapids Community College. Thanks to one of our lifetime members, we were able to fund the installation of a hearing loop system there. The deaf kids were thrilled to get autographs from Snow White herself!

Coming up is our 9th Annual Duck Walk at our newest YMCA. It is the only Y in the country that is completely accessible for all abilities. We are in the midst of funding 9 hearing loop systems there, to make the Y state of the art for people with hearing loss.

Of course, we are all Smitten With The Mitten, and can’t wait to share with you in person many more attractions, like Fred Meijer’s Garden, Jerry’s oval office, the Grand River that runs right through town, the Downtown market, Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant, and yes — The Mitten Brewing Company. Nearly everything is within 10 minutes of the hotel – on foot or wheels.

Here is Why We Call This Place Home….

“ A Perfect Vision…..Convention 2020”

Mitten Convention WIDE

Grand Rapids, Michigan – On the last day of the 2018 International Convention in Washington, D.C., I was proud to make the following announcement.

“Region 4 and the beautiful Great Lakes State of Michigan are honored and excited to invite Quota International members to join us for a perfect vision of convention…. in Grand Rapids, Michigan, July 9th, 10th and 11th, 20/20.”

Quota Region 4 has formed a convention team. We are thrilled to invite fellow Quotarians to visit our beautiful state. Michigan is surrounded by our 5 Great Lakes and we have 3,288 miles of fresh water shoreline. The geographic shape of the state looks like a mitten and we are “Smitten With The Mitten”. Our host city, Grand Rapids, is filled with great opportunities for activities like, hiking, biking, golfing and over 200 venues for theater, museums, shops and restaurants. The city’s Gerald R. Ford airport, has over 120 daily nonstop flights from 20 major destinations.

Our amazing hotel, the Amway Grand Plaza, won an Award of Excellence for Best Historic Hotel in 2017. The world class hotel dates back to 1913 and is grand and opulent, it’s a real pleasure to stay here. Hotel amenities include 7 restaurants plus a Starbucks, a spa, clothing stores, an on-site convenience store, fitness room, pool and best of all, it is ADA compliant. Visit for more information.

Our team has already arranged pre and post-convention tours which include historic Mackinaw Island, boating trips on Lake Michigan, the famous Sleeping Bear sand dunes and Frederick Meijer Gardens…. and that’s just a few of the attractions on the tours. Stay tuned to the blog because we will be posting monthly articles with information about Grand Rapids, additional tour itineraries, Michigan attractions/facts and hotel highlights.

Region 4 is “Smitten with the Mitten” and you will be too ….We hope you have 20/20 vision and join us for a Pure Michigan Convention in Grand Rapids, …July…9th, 10th and 11th, two-thousand and twenty.
