Since Mayon volcano is visible from their residences, they were affected by the ashes, polluted air and poor visibility. Numerous evacuation centers were set up by their local government and some organizations are supporting the needs of the evacuees.

Quota International of Legazpi-Mayon Charter President Meg Los Baños informed me that they are physically helping at the evacuation centers but not financially because of deficient club funds, which the other R18 clubs are also experiencing due to the dates of their upcoming fundraisers.

Mayon Volcano, aka as Mount Mayon, is an active volcano in the province of Albay, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Renamed as the “perfect cone” because of its almost symmetric conical shape, Mayon forms the northern boundary of Legazpi City, the largest city in terms of population in the Bicol Region.
