Paradise & Gridley, California- Camp Fires

Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of Quota’s family who live near the major fire zones in California. The town of Paradise, California, home to QI of Paradise, was destroyed by flames from what is now known as the Camp Fire. We know that multiple numbers of members lost their homes, and we wait to hear about everyone’s welfare. We are hopeful that members in California and beyond who are in touch with our Paradise Quotarians will report news and photographs on our Quota International Facebook page as it is learned.

Meanwhile, the members of nearby QI of Gridley, California, who operate a thrift shop in their town, have opened their doors to fire evacuees so that they may pick up some needed clothing, after having lost their homes and possessions in the fire. California. We have heard that nearby members from nearby QI of Orrville are also helping by opening their homes to fire victims. Quota caring is alive and well in California.

  4. From New Zealand, we too are very aware of the devastation happening with the fires in California. Rebuilding lives, homes and communities will need much love, energy and resources. So glad that nearby Quota clubs are able to provide practical help. We send our thoughts to you all.

  5. We in Australia know well the devastation of fires. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the losses and strive to rebuild your lives and your communities. Please know that you are loved and prayed for by members of QI Gloucester (NSW Australia)

  6. President Emilie and Quota friends, first of all thank you, Emilie, for your work in keeping members up-to-date and informed about all of Q’s business. You are a blessing to this organization. Next, I want to tell you all that in my years as a Governor, Board member and QI President, I had the privilege of traveling to Paradise, Gridley and Orrville and I can assure you this s a beautiful part of the USA that has burned to devastation. I am not the least bit surprised that Gridley and Orrvile members have stepped up to help Paradise. It is what they are best at doing, and I am certain great progress will be made in the coming months to restore the area. Their comforting work will bring joy to Quotarians in No. California.
Where I live here in Monrovia, Southern California, we have had devastating fires as well, but no Quota clubs are in danger. I am saddened that the Hess Kramer Camp in Malibu is burned down as that is where we donated our time and money to help teach deaf children and their parents to grow into a responsible life of deaf-challenges. Gladly, the synagogue that owned the Camp intends to rebuild.
So… hang in there everyone. Positive attitudes and forward-thinking will help all of us, and Quota Int’l. meet its goals in the coming years.
    Charlotte Schamadan,
    Past International President 1997-98
